A boat day in Ibiza is one of the highlights of any summer holiday — but like any day out, a little preparation goes a long way. Knowing what to bring (and what to leave behind) will make the difference between a comfortable, carefree day and one spent squinting into the sun without sunscreen.
Here is everything you need to pack for a boat trip in Ibiza.
Sun protection — your most important item
The Ibiza sun is intense, and on the water it is even more so. The reflection off the sea amplifies UV exposure significantly, which means you will burn faster on a boat than on the beach — even on a cloudy day.
- High SPF sunscreen — bring more than you think you need, and reapply every two hours
- Sunglasses with UV protection — polarised lenses are ideal on the water as they cut the glare
- Sun hat or cap — essential for anyone spending time on the bow or the sundeck
- Lip balm with SPF — often forgotten, always needed
What to wear
Comfort and practicality are the priorities on a boat. Leave the elaborate outfits at the hotel.
- Swimwear — you will be in and out of the water throughout the day, so bring at least one spare set
- Light cover-up or sarong — for when you want shade or a break from the sun
- Light layers for the return — afternoons on the water can get breezy, especially in June and September
- Non-marking, non-slip shoes — if you bring footwear on board, soles must be white or light-coloured to avoid marking the deck. Most guests go barefoot once on board, which is perfectly fine
Leave at home: heels, dark-soled shoes and anything you would be upset about getting wet or salty.
Towels
Wind3P charters include towels for all guests, so you do not need to bring your own. That said, if you have a favourite beach towel, there is no reason not to bring it.
Personal items
- Waterproof phone case or dry bag — highly recommended. Phones and sea spray are not a good combination, and if you want to take photos in the water, a waterproof case is essential
- Motion sickness tablets — if you are prone to seasickness, take them at least an hour before departure. The sea around Ibiza is generally calm in summer, but the crossing to Formentera can occasionally be choppy
- Prescription medication — if you take daily medication, do not leave it at the hotel
- Cash — if you plan to disembark at Formentera or Blue Marlin for lunch, most beach restaurants and bars accept cards, but cash is useful as a backup
- Underwater camera or GoPro — the snorkelling around Ses Illetes and Espalmador is genuinely beautiful, and worth documenting
Food and drinks
Your Wind3P charter includes soft drinks, water, beers, snacks, fruits and cava throughout the day — so you do not need to bring your own refreshments. However:
- If you have specific dietary requirements, let us know in advance and we will do our best to accommodate you
- If you want to bring extra food or drinks, you are welcome to — just let us know beforehand
- We also offer catering packages if you would like a proper lunch on board. Ask us when you book
What NOT to bring
- Glass bottles — not permitted on most charter yachts for safety reasons. We provide drinks in cans and cups
- Excessive luggage — storage space on board is limited. A small dry bag or beach bag per person is ideal
- Inflatable toys or large floats — they are fun but take up significant space on deck and can be difficult to manage at sea. Check with us first if you want to bring one
- Pets — unfortunately we do not allow pets on board
A few practical tips
Arrive on time. Your skipper will have the boat ready from your agreed departure time. A late start cuts into your day on the water.
Tell us about your group. If you are travelling with young children, elderly guests or anyone with mobility considerations, let us know in advance so we can make the necessary arrangements.
Bring a sense of adventure. Your skipper knows these waters better than anyone. Trust their recommendations on where to anchor, when to move and which hidden cove to visit. The best spots are rarely the ones on the map.
